I don't think they do wonder. It's impossible for them to be this retarded and not know.Guest wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 5:28 pmModern capeshit, especially Marvel, is just glorified ads for the movies. And then they wonder why they keep being outsold by manga.
The Ultimate line's a perfect example of their retardation. That was the perfect entry point for new comics readers. It was a compact line, with its own internal continuity, very few if any retcons, most of it was collected in trades, they took a back to basics approach with the characters whilst still modernising them in a way that would appeal to younger readers who were introduced to Marvel comics via the films.
And they shat all over it. They got Jeph Loeb to write some big event that took a massive shit all over it by killing off most of the characters. Then, little by little, they proceeded to destroy what was left of it.
People who are interested in comics always say 'I want to get into comics, where do I start?' and with most Marvel comics you can't start at the beginning, because they're so old that the old stuff is unpalatable to most normies. You can't start with the most recent issue because, again, they're so old and there's so much history that it's confusing to just start cold from a current issue. With Ultimate, you could start at number one and the continuity would be easy to follow. Or you could start from the most recent issue and the older issues were easy to find so you could catch up.
There's a reason why those Ultimate comics outsold the 'proper' versions of Spider-Man and X-Men for a good while
