Re: Movie Thread
“We spared no expense.”
One of my all time favorite movie lines. I’m a diehard fan of both the book and film, each have their own merits and unique qualities. Hammond is eccentric in the book, but a lot more aloof, not just a typical villain though. Attenborough just gives him that Willy Wonka dreamer charm that can’t be topped. I find it funny that in the book Malcolm is described as a rock star, only real difference is a receding hairline, he even wears nothing but dark clothes for efficiency.
Only characters I feel got too condensed were Muldoon the game warden and Donald Gennaro. The former gets more badass moments, including wiping out some of the raptors with a LAW, and the latter is merged with PR manager Ed Regis and becomes the stereotypical greedy lawyer.

Hammond is really not a villain in the movie version, just a rich autist who wanted to play with dinosaur.CuckTurdginson wrote: ↑Sun Apr 06, 2025 4:06 amThe fact that he sincerely believes in what he's doing doesn't mean he's not an arrogant rich guy, and the villain of the movie.
He is concerned about other people's safety, and in the end he accepts that his project failed.
The closest thing to a human villain in that movie was Newman.

I mean, there's a decent chance everything would've gone flawlessly if not literally everything went wrong.

There is no real villain in the Jurassic Park film it’s basically Frankenstein. Don’t walk in god (or nature’s) domain.Complicity wrote: ↑Sun Apr 06, 2025 3:07 pmHammond is really not a villain in the movie version, just a rich autist who wanted to play with dinosaur.CuckTurdginson wrote: ↑Sun Apr 06, 2025 4:06 amThe fact that he sincerely believes in what he's doing doesn't mean he's not an arrogant rich guy, and the villain of the movie.

Re: Movie Thread
Someone in Taiwan read The Crossed:
I guess it's better than the Crossed - it doesn't take much - and the gore is competently made.
There's still a scene of involving an old man, a fat woman and her wounded eye socket though.
EDIT The movie is Taiwanese, but the director is cucknadian.
That explains a lot.

There are kids performing the Nutcracker:
And there's the oh-so-topical social commentary on how the Alvin Virus (

It's a fun watch though, and the way the zombies smile is way creepier than in shitty movies like Smile 1 and 2.

Re: Movie Thread
I feel like Western horror flicks are trying too hard to make the smiles "creepy" - especially when there's some possession shenanigans going on, then you can almost guarantee they're gonna use some cheap CGI to make the smiles unnaturally wide.
Sometimes a normal smile in a fucked-up situation can be more than enough to be unsettling.
