Unless you go for some weird character-specific thing, any counter system will naturally benefit anyone, be they top- or bottom-tier.
And yet, this simple logic escapes a lot of people in discussions of what's wrong with DoA as a competitive fighting game, or where the characters are on tiers.

The parry in 3S is the same according to Bafael, and he can school Valle with his Oro so I'll believe him for now. His point is that characters like Chun, Ken and Yun benefit just as much if not more from the parry mechanic as low tiers do, because they get a lot more reward for a parry than a low tier character. Because that's part of what determines character ranking on tier lists.

Focus attack in Ultra SF IV was kind of like that. It gave low-mobility, high-tier characters even more options.

They can't. They physically fucking can't! Because it's not MT Frameworks that was used for so many great Capcom games, it's the same engine they use for Resi7 and its VR ofshoot. It's literary burning out cash because they're too bored to use their prize winning engines. We're entering the age of shit dark again, except instea dof everybody using UE3 for everything, now everybody uses UE4 and some variant of it.

From has been daft for a very long time now. Don't expect them to change. Their good old days of quirky games are over and done and you can blame saviour of gaming, Miyazaki for that.

Also, Battletoads return and they got this :

UE4 powered sequel to J-Stars Victory Vs.

Shock of shocks the new fromsoft is a soulslike game.

They ain't making shit else for the foreseeable future, I bet. I doubt they could make an armored core 3 today and have it do well.

They might still make "Armored Souls".

How bad would it suck shit if they actually did this, though?

I hear AC5 and Verdict Day were bad, but armored souls would be some serious garbage. I think part of why AC5 got negative press was how hard they nerfed mobility from AC4 and For Answer (and even earlier AC games apparently,) which is the direction an armored souls would have to go.

Oh fucking great. Here I was happy that Microcock cancelled that faggot dragon gayme and there we go and get the exact same fuckboy as a Donte replacement. I want to beat the fucker that designed him to death with a lead pipe already.
Yes, it's Vergil, Voice. You know, the brother of Dante that was in DmC3 that was also a further reference to the Divine Comedy.

Shadows Die Twice looks like it could be an interesting update to the Soulslike formula, at least it looks faster and more overt with the storytelling. Also I like the idea of using the grappling hook and making the combat take place on the vertical plane as well, so pretty interesting tbh. Then again I am a complete sucker for anything remotely Metroidvania-ish so I'm biased.

Activision publishing it makes me wary though. Tfw you can buy souls to grind hard parts.

Though that grappling hook will make level design tricky. All your wonderful shortcuts you have to activate from the other side no longer work if you can just fly over there. But I guess DSP will have "fun" with it, seeing how much he sucked at the Arkham games.

I think they may have slowed everything down because AC5 was all about dem multiplayer and shit. That tends to ruin things because of muh balance and muh performance and muh competitive whatever.

I am aware of this piece of deep DMC lore, Fugu-sensei. I was just wondering if RebootVergil had a nickname like Donte has.

(Also Dragonkinbound is not 100% dead, afaik.)
