It's been the way of Hollywood since at least the 1930s that one or two good roles were enough to make you a star.
She used nudity to build up her career. Then she got offered parts in tentpole movies. So she decided she didn't need to do nudity any more and the beta male feminists in Hollywood agreed.

I seem to recall Sharon Stone swore off nudity around the time of The Quick and the Dead. She was trying to launch a new phase of her career as an empowered female badass or something. It never really happened.
She was already kind of old when she became a star in Basic Instinct, so you're right that no nudity wasn't a tragedy.

Heather Graham was such a pop-culture blip that I honestly can't remember any details about her. Just a vague recollection of her saying that in a press release or interview. I remember that chick in Species did the same thing. That POS movie was only noteworthy for her nude scenes (certainly not her acting). By the time the sequel came around, I heard she wasn't doing nudity anymore.
