They haven't really found stuff for Daniel to do yet, his arc definitely isn't anywhere as interesting as Johnny's. The show could use an extra season to build on that. Its gonna be a hit anyway, so a season 2 will happen.

I saw will smith was involved which surprised me, this is the only thing in years ive liked where he had anything to do with it. Maybe he just financed it?

Seeing his name in the credits was the only bad thing about the show!
I heard that he bought the rights to The Karate Kid years ago for his son to star in. (He also bought the rights to Annie for his daughter.) So he probably had nothing to do with this show except that they had to pay him and give him an Executive Producer credit.

Kreese faked his death in Karate Kid 3. So I suppose that could be where Johnny had heard that he had died. I'd like to see the Kreese character explored a little bit more than he was in the movies. I always assumed that Kreese was probably once a normal guy until he went to Vietnam. He probably witnessed some messed up stuff that gave him lifelong PTSD and made him into a raging asshole.

Cobra Kai was actually pretty awesome. I binged it and I want a second season.

Not many shows can pull that off. Wasn't really a good ending and everyone kinda turned to shit. Which was a nice change from all the happy shows out there.
