The problem is, as always, Peter Jackson. The man whose King Kong took more time to get to Skull Island than the entire length of the original movie.

Nothing can resist the power of the Trilogy.
And the best part about making it a trilogy was that not only did they make up a bunch of fanfic filler material, but they actually omitted stuff from the rather short book to make room for the fanfic filler material.

Sure, the movie could've been great. I'm not particularly fond of LOTR but enjoyed the movies. But three super long movies out of a small book? I can't see that working with the best of books.

If the book were huge like War and Peace or something, I could see it justifying three films. But a two hundred page book like The Hobbit? You just knew it was going to be padded as shit. It should have been one film, two tops.

A bit more about that werebear guy. Some more whimisical stuff in mirkwood that paints the elves more as fey instead of just long-eared assholes. Bilbo being more of a badass against the spiders.
Now that I think about it they didn't really omit too much stuff, but the padding is so bad it seemingly
subtracts from the story.

What's incredible is they even released Extended Editions of their already painfully protracted movies. I would have rather paid for a properly edited edition.

The first movie was okay. Everything else sucked.
This just in LOTR was garbage. It was the Furious Period of its day and anyone who liked it likes big black cock.
