This "everyone loved the prequels until RLM" shit is some of the dumbest crap anyone has ever come up with. People shit on Phantom Menace almost right away. I remember sitting in the theater for Episode II when it first came out and hearing people talk about how it better not have all the stupid shit Episode I had like Jar Jar.

Well, we got entirely different stupid shit instead like CGI diner greaseball and "around the survivors a perimeter create".

I've told the story about going to the cinema all excited and everyone leaving silent lots of time so I'll not bore you DSP style. But that was what it was. People were hype for "their" Star Wars. Get to have a Star Wars for themselves. They weren't alive or way too young for SW, fell in love with the universe and now, finally, they got new movies! And they were fucking shit. The only thing that kept spirits up was that it was only the first of three movies. That's it. Had you told them that that was it they would've been crushed.

Exactly what I'm saying. And even with the OT context, the prequels weren't any good. Not then, not a while after and certainly not now. I don't take that Razorfag kinda apologism about how people loved them but then along came big bad RLM to form opinions. People hated Ep1. They were hopeful for Ep2 and that still was shit. What was it that people told everyone? What did media desperately spew about Ep3? That is was darker. Fucking "darker" was the selling point. Nobody said "good", nobody said "fantastic". The selling point was "At least it's not as shit as the first two movies" and even that claim was proven to be dubious at best. People didn't like the prequels even then. Had it not been for the OG trilogy they would've gone into the trash entierly.

RLM didn't change a single fucking thing about how the public felt about the prequels. They just articulated the public feelings extremely well in a manner that incorporated high level discourse about film making.

It's sad that the scenes with that guy are probably the most interesting part of the movie.
It's shot in an actual physical set with more than two camera angles. Compared with the rest of the movie it's interesting and unique enough to make my brain actually pay attention. (Dammit)

I was shocked to learn the outside shot of the restaurant was an actual model and not some CG nonsense, it just looks cruddy because muh 2002 digital photography. Enjoy Episode 2 being in 1080p forever.

Ive rewatched SW 1 - 6 and anybody who says the disney movies even come close to the same level is retarded as fuck, seriously.

And bring on the flak but I watched in the classic order (4-5-6-1-2-3) and while there is a certain shift from serious space opera drama to more soapy tv humorous space drama I still think the prequals take too much shit.

A while back (I think after TFA dissappointed me) I watched them in the 1-2-3-4-5-6 order and then I like the prequals even better. Its like alright here are 3 lighthearted "funny" movies that set up the lore and universe / characters and then when anakin becomes vader we shift into the serious "darker" trilogy. It flows perfectly this way at least to me so I really cant give the prequals any shit, theyre miles and miles above all disney crap and just a bit below the originals.


edit: I really get sick of fat fanfags claiming the original trilogy was so special or perfect though. Those movies were not flawless, they also have plenty of retarded stuff and bad acting. People acting like the original trilogy is perfect and the prequals aint shit just are stuck in their own mental bias thats pushed up there by years of media brainwashing about the prequals.
I could tell you point for point why the originals are worse than people think and the prequals better than people think but that would take hours and its not that important lol.
