Looks like we are only a week or so away from the counterjerk saying this movie is actually good. I'm already seeing it among the contrarian crowds in the various online shitholes that only exist to love what everyone else hates and hate what everyone else loves.

See, the thing is, I could defend parts of force awakens during the last big culture clash over that movie. I felt it wasn't as bad as people were saying. This one, I feel it's at least as bad as people are saying, so long as we ignore the muh feminism Miscarriage of Acchild types who are only against the movie because of political reasons.

I didn't hate TFA either. I could watch it and enjoy it. TLJ is another story though. It left me dumbfounded. The writing was absolutely terrible. The casino scene was something from an early 90s Saturday morning cartoon.

TFA was fairly forgettable, safe for that one part about Space Yakuza and Scottish gangsters running away from a rolling hentai monster. That felt a bit out of place tbh.

Phantom Menace is a dumb movie and the podracer scene sucks ass, but it's fairly harmless overall.

That scene was an excellent advertisment for that pod racing video game.

My female millennial coworker was telling me that this was the very best Star Wars movie ever. (No hyperbole) And that finally there was a Star Wars that "spoke to her." This was troubling to me, since I disagree with pretty much everything she says and use her as a barometer. If she likes something, I probably will not. I haven't seen the movie, but it would seem those political messages ARE there if she is seeing them.

TFA was harmless compared to TLJ but it sure as fuck wasn't a good movie, ya Fury Road-loving dolts. Shit action, shit effects, shit story, shit acting, and it was a fucking ripoff of the original film. And it killed off Han for no damn reason and had a gay-ass ending.
