There's probably a market out there for non-woke comics with pulp settings, sword and sorcery, horror, the good kind of sci-fi and cyberpunk, maybe even western and noir.
Woke and capeshit? Not much.
Butch Killingan looks good, but i don't buy anything so i don't know for certain.

Sven Stoffels makes good stuff but I don't care enough to buy it either.

There's a recent article about how half of the people who buy new vinyl records don't own a turntable for playing them. Most toy collectors prefer to keep the thing sealed up in the original box. I follow a comics collector Facebook group (just for the nostalgia of seeing comics cover art that I haven't seen in 30 years) where it's normal for people to show off comics that they've paid to have professionally graded and then sealed in plastic to preserve and never be opened.

The lesson: The usefulness of something doesn't matter. People will pay serious money for objects that they only intend to keep on a shelf. Some of the most successful Comicsgate projects sell to people who are out to collect an artist's work. Many of these people might not even read the books.

Capeshit may be dead, but if there's a niche who still likes it or who still likes comics art, at least, you can sell them things. If that niche is an older audience (which is what the Comicsgate audience is), that's a good thing. They have more money.

That's what interests me most about Comicsgate, I guess. I'm interested in these odd niches and how people work them

But they still listen to the music via a different medium. Likely the digital album version that quite often comes with the purchase.

Supporting an artist is fine. But who wants to support Marvel or DC? Nobody. They expect a product and they aren't getting a good product. That's why those sales are in the shitter.

Vynils are a terrible analogy. Their sales are at a massive upswing and have taken over CD sales several years ago. They are again the definitive physical medium for music and place two is likely going to be the cassette in a few more years.

Modern, big corpo comics are instead the CD. On a massive decline and without perceived inherent value. Like the CD, they were just the convenient and available option.
The market shifted to an enthusiast's market. The big two can't keep up anymore. Offering Spiderman and Batman used to be enough. Now people want actually good stories again, because the casual child audience was priced out of the medium a decade ago.
