Fuck off, and fuck Finn McKenty for helping accelerate this shit. That piece of subhuman filth needs to be run off the internet worse than any groomer ever did.
The weird thing is that he straight says he doesn't like Nu Metal, my issue with his is more so with the "-Core" genres of metal that he defends way too hard. When he said that the emo thing in the 2000s "made it okay to talk about mental health" I knew he was full of it, that was cringey teen angst with faggots whining about their girlfriend dumping them and everyone knew it. A lot of the people writing that shit were well into their 20s pandering to people half their age.
He mentions "gatekeeping" being a bad thing all the time and while sometimes online it gets obnoxious since faggots are just being contrarians to impress random assholes online by thinking cynicism = intelligence. I stopped talking about metal online in 2006 since I saw so many people go from "only Metallica's 80s stuff is good" to "Metallica were never good, and Show No Mercy is better than Reign in Blood" in the space of a year because Kerrang magazine introduced the emos to Puppets and RiB. And it's only gotten worse.
But Finn always goes too far the other way and wants no gatekeeping at all. He acts like outsider communities like nerds, punks and metalheads are just being weird but as someone who has been apart of Active Support (not quite Ultras) for Football (Soccer) for Sydney FC there is just as much gatekeeping there. And they are mostly normies, but no one likes it when some blow-in asshole who only goes to big games goes to the active area and doesn't chant. It ruins the vibe to have tourist faggots diluting the energy and making it quiet, in one case there were some pricks from Leeds who kept shitchanting and people starting fighting them after a few warnings. But it's usually some cunt taking selfies for Instagram.
He clearly wants younger people to like him, he's the real life version of the "how do you do fellow kids" meme. He's way too old to be into the "-Core" genres of metal or anything else, yeah you can look at people getting way too angry at Nu Metal and Metalcore in the 2000s as a silly thing 18 year old's do but straight up praising everything the way he does rather than just apathy is a bit odd.
