Yeah the new Ren and Stimpy looks like shit. But the franchise was always doomed to produce any kind of profit or longevity outside the unique timeframe it was created in.

Shows like Flapjack and surely others already filled that ugly, deranged animation look. Hell, SpongeBob has turned into Ren and Stimpy, even having some of the same animation directors. But outside of dumbass Netflix shit, gross out doesn't really play anymore as that's uniquely ninties, and cartoons being on model kills the magic a bit.
