Re: Non-cape tv show
I found out that YouTube has the old episodes of Unsolved Mysteries.
https://www.youtube.com/@UnsolvedMysteriesFullEpisodes
I used to love this show back in the day. And I still get a kick out of it today. I don't know why, because I usually find those ubiquitous true crime shows nihilistic and depressing.
As a kid I used to fantasize about actually catching one of the crooks. The next few days after an episode aired I'd stare and analyze the faces of strangers. The show actually would catch them hiding in the Pacific Northwest a lot, so that encouraged me even more.

Re: Non-cape tv show
Been watching some weird 70s TV.
Survivors is a post-apocalyptic drama. Think the Walking Dead, but British and without zombies. The creator lasted about half a season before he noped out, because the producer wanted to turn it into a soap opera and fired the lead actress (whose character was actually a good strong heroine for the time).
Who'd the producer replace her with? I kid you not, a guest star from season 1 whose shtick was that he believed humanity needs to fuck like rabbits to repopulate, and had already impregnated every woman in his community. Charles was so creepy that our heroes fled his community because they thought he might rape them. Now in season 2, they all go to live with him.
That and the fact that 99% of season 2 is about bitching at a farm (another interesting parallel with Walking Dead) lead to the main male actor Ian McCulloch getting pissy and refusing to participate in any episode of season 3 that he didn't write himself. So of course Charles gets another promotion, this time to motherfucking protagonist.
After the show ended, McCulloch apparently regretted his decision to leave because he put forth an idea for a revival season 4 in which the UK gets invaded by African warlords. He even got the creator onboard, but the BBC called them both racist and told them to fuck off. To this day, he can't understand why, as he would've been able to employ so many black actors.
Much like with Doctor Who, Big Finish now produces Survivors audios and of course Charles is in exactly none of them LOL. What a shame.

I like this charles guy already.
>the producer wanted it to turn into a soap opera
Isn't this what the Walking Dead basically became? I don't buy for a second you can fill over 170 episodes with nothing but genuine zombie goodness.

Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

Re: Non-cape tv show
Charles was 1000% brought back because a veteran character actor played him, and the producer just didn't give a shit about the context of him returning.
Walking Dead had more of a problem with filler than being a soap opera. The concepts for the storylines were generally good right to the end. They were just dragged out.

Dragged out is putting it mildly - shit was worse about it than DBZ.

Was? For fuck's sake, Rick is STILL dealing with shit to this day.CuckTurdginson wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 2:36 amDragged out is putting it mildly - shit was worse about it than DBZ.
To AMC's credit, throwing John Locke from LOST at him as a final villain is a very good incentive to watch.

I think what makes it stand out from modern shows is the atmosphere and presentation. Hell they even did non true crime things like talk about a buried stash of gold people were hunting and stuff. I definitely get that fantasy too, shows like that and America’s Most Wanted put some real creeps behind bars.Liar Revealed wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 12:01 amI found out that YouTube has the old episodes of Unsolved Mysteries.

America's Most Wanted and COPS did a huge public service and I feel their going off the air hurt our culture immensely. And I know this sounds crazy, but I believe those shows were taken off the air by communists and race hustlers. The programs showed a positive portrayal of law enforcement. And you couldn't help notice certain inconvenient "patterns" with the ethnicities of the criminals.Old Black Man wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 4:17 pmshows like that and America’s Most Wanted put some real creeps behind bars.
They went off the air around a decade ago and that seems to jibe with the rise of wokism.

I 100% agree with that statement, it’s insightful and raises a good point. I’m surprised To Catch a Predator still exists in some form with all of the woke pedophile defenders out there.Liar Revealed wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 10:48 pmAmerica's Most Wanted and COPS did a huge public service and I feel their going off the air hurt our culture immensely.
