I think the situation is true. It's more a question of did he actually do anything that makes him civilly or criminally liable.
The lady was 21, which is a full-fledged legal adult. She doesn't say Elfman physically or professionally threatened her or otherwise forced her into doing anything. It doesn't even sound like she told him to knock it off until he escalated it. And this went on for five years.
