Re: What are you playing?
Yup. Look at the latest big release with marketing power. Now you know who's greasing the journo's pocket that week. Read everything in that context. Or better yet, don't listen to anything vidya journos say at all. Nobody needs them. A short trip to YT will tell you everything you must know. You'll find normal dudes giving their opinion, gameplay videos and likely every bug shown off.

Re: What are you playing?
Apparently all the twitter shit surrounding wolfenstein 2 makes it even more obvious that they liken the nazis in wolfenstein 2 with trump voters, the trump campaign and current year memes.

^From one of the devs. The article writer goes on to say:“Any story you tell is intrinsically a commentary on life,” he said. “With Nazis, it’s obvious. There are real-world Nazis today. There might be occasional jokes, but we want the game to stand as a creative piece on its own that’s timeless.”
He claims the intent was never to directly reference trump, but more articles and twitter shit...Regardless, it will be hard to play through Wolfenstein II when it releases this October and not think of Trump’s America. Thankfully, this is a video game, free from ethical concerns and moral gray areas. Your mission is simple: keep killing Nazis and you’ll eventually make it through to the end and save America. If only the real world were that simple.

In this particular case, Bethesda published a trailer that held back no punches, stating: "Make America Nazi-Free Again." Blunt? Incredibly. Unfortunately, white supremacist and Nazi-related subjects have been prominent in the US news recently, while some people have related President Trump to that current landscape as well. As a result of this, and because the campaign slogan riffs off Donald Trump's original campaign slogan of "Make America Great Again" for his presidential bid, some folks have taken Bethesda's stance with this advertising campaign to be very anti-Trump.

Pretty uncontroversial to be against legit WW2 nazis, but the "right side of history" meme working into their quote is a tip of the hat, says I.Wolfenstein has been a decidedly anti-Nazi series since the first release more than 20 years ago. We aren't going to shy away from what the game is about. We don't feel it's a reach for us to say Nazis are bad and un-American, and we're not worried about being on the right side of history here.

I've been thinking about replaying New Order to see if this current year shit is in that game. As I've said, I remember a more James Bond-meets-Inglorious Bastards kind of tone.

What a bunch of cowardly assholes. Sprinkle obvious references like the "Make America X Again" meme and then pretend like they aren't appropriating the franchise as anti-Trump propaganda.
Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

Hey now, cultural appropriation is good when it serves the cause.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2017 10:01 pmWhat a bunch of cowardly assholes. "Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus," or "How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Learned to Love Saving $60 on a New Game Again."

In one week it'll have been an entire year since Trump won the presidency. AN ENTIRE YEAR. Shitty videogames aren't going to change anything.
If you wanted to make a "timeless" creative work you wouldn't be making a fucking videogame in the first place, an entertainment medium that's reproducability is more harmed by changes and variences in technology than others.but we want the game to stand as a creative piece on its own that’s timeless

Re: What are you playing?
Does xe imply that if killing everyone who he identifies as a nazi guaranteed saving America, xe wouldn't have ethical concerns? Or does it just reference the punch a nazi thing?rabidtictac wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2017 7:21 pmRegardless, it will be hard to play through Wolfenstein II when it releases this October and not think of Trump’s America. I love the lack of self-awareness all of these resistance fighters, who in broad daylight using social media fight with overpowering forces of the Drumpf regime that to be honest cannot do them shit, and doesn't even control the media. Do they know that the nazis actually killed people? Not only the undesirables, but people who were trying to help them as well?
