I'm more surprised it didn't happen years ago. Dead Space 3 is terribad in every aspect conceivable, although I don't personally hold it against the Visceral guys.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2017 11:19 pmSpeaking of EA, you all heard they killed the dead space guys right?

Re: What are you playing?
Of course. And making multiplayer title from that Star Wars game they were making - for a short while shitty journous were trying to make some drama from it by creating incredibly stupid "Are single player games dead?" topic, but as always, games attract a lot of lobotomized individuals, so it gained some attention.
Visceral made Battlefield: Hardline, a misguided spin-off that basically died before they were able to release all DLCs for it. Which is sad, because it had some pretty good maps in those DLCs, but when you have nobody to play it with, what's the fucking point? The game supposedly had decent sales, but they could've been just smoke and mirrors from EA, unlike other companies that will whine about how they haven't met their sale goals, EA is usually just shady about anything that could make them look bad. So decent sales or not, it was their swan song.
EA slowly kills everything they assimilate, when they'll squeeze Battlefield dry, they'll get rid of DICE as well. They did it with Medal of Honor developer as well, and long time ago, is used to be one famous series.
Short sidenote to Cuckenstein, I've read some more reactions to the game and it seems like it's a disgrace. I am dissapointed, because I really wanted it to be good. Instead it's rushed out cocktease for a third game in the new series. Oh well, I'll wait for a sale (and patches, because apparently it's also just as stable as Spoony's mind) and try to be optimistic about it.

I don't remember him ever saying he was one. He just seemed like a typical ubermensch, square jawed American with a Polish origin. After some lazy wikipedia research it seems it was never confirmed until now, he has always been Polish since he had the same name in Wallenstein 3D. It did say he understood Hebrew in The New Order, but that is about it.

Re: What are you playing?
EA killing dead space devs was honestly foreshadowed with dead space 2 having tacked-on shitty multiplayer, well before the travesty of dead space 3.
EA very obviously didn't like dead space. They did the first one because they basically made a deal with the devs. Then the second game came along and they threw in some shit multiplayer because it's EA. But both games did very well critically and EA took that and ran with it for the third game. They added shitloads of enemy humans, waist-high cover, separate "human" and "necromorph" gun loadouts, brought in a co-op partner (even in the single player game) and went full Gears of Duty. Pretty obvious to see they'd fuck it up in hindsight, because it's fucking EA. The only good games they've EVER had under their label were either accidents or one-offs later to be ruined by the monolith that they are.
Mirror's Edge was another case of a promising new game fucked over by being associated with EA.
Oh and yeah, pretty sure BJ didn't pull any >muh six gorillion< shit in Wolfenstein The New Order. The tone of that game's story was closer to Inglorious Bastards.

No surprise about EA killing off a dev. They have a studio make a new IP and then fuck it's shit up more and more with each title.
I eagerly await them to kill Bioware, though. That's a studio that ought to be dissolved. They just keep getting worse.

It's the fact that absolutely everything DICE ever made needed fixing badly. They just can't make a technically sound game in any way. If a DICE game runs fine, it's likely not really made that way by them. Some Sick Fuck wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2017 11:00 pmUnlike Bethesda, they don't have a shitty engine, their games don't pretend to be rpgs and they have a second studio that usually fixes the mess they release.

I mean, fuck, nobody will care about this Star Wars game in a bit. Even the new Wolfenstein might just be forgotten in a few months once antifa and gang find something else to fight for. Stop building the narrative wherein [current singleplayer AAA that has caught the attention of the ADD-ridden game journos] is our last hope in the final battle against proper singleplayer and the lootbox / multiplayer axis.
(Hilariously enough, the same doom-and-gloom sites also don't seem to be shy about mentioning how well Cuphead sold.)

With commie shits the issue is never the issue. It has nothing to do with "single player games being dead", it's them making it a big deal to make you buy that piece of shit Wolfenstein game because it represents the last hope of single player gaming when it's really because it hammers their politic shit hard.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2017 8:19 amThis triggers me something fierce. Some Sick Fuck wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2017 11:34 pmOf course. Tacked on multiplayer shit has been an issue for over 10 years. Even fucking Extra Credits mentioned that games like Timeshift got online multiplayer tacked on partly to make piracy more of a pain. Games like COD have phased out the single player campaign and made them short as fuck for a long ass time now. It has nothing to do with this, it's all about shilling Wolfenstein.
