I won't bet money on it, but I'm wondering if "Blue Beetle" might do better than people are saying. Every comment I see predicts that it's going to bomb. It's a character who's not a household name AND it's connected to DC's sinking ship. It's not looking good, BUT the trailer pushes the Hispanic angle, which no capeshit movie has done before (to my memory).

It's interesting to me because Hispanics are a larger minority in the US than blacks, yet popular media doesn't cater to them nearly as much.

Call me crazy, but i doubt that Hispanics who are into DC comics appreciated the "Batman's a fassist" line, or the leftist director gloating about it before the damage control.

25 million opening - beating out Barbie, a movie in its fifth weekend - just barely.

Might do better than The Flash - but that’s not saying much.

They're talking about delaying nearly every major new fall movie because of the actors strike.

As it stands now though, the main competition with "The Marvels" looks to be "Dune 2" which comes out a week earlier and the "Hunger Games" prequel, which comes out a week later.

Dune isn’t getting delayed either - guess it was finished.

I think the plan is the first book - Messiah and the chunk of Children that Paul is in. So that third movie is liable to take a while.
