I'm keeping an open mind about the James Gunn-ification of DC. He's made good movies before.

He's the Justin Roiland of live action, no more, no less.

I think he's seeing movies like "The Flash" bomb and he's thinking about why.

And the answers he'll come up with are "it's just superhero fatigue" and "It's those pesky nazis' fault, even though i still think they are a minority".
Snark, Mary Sues and Reddit memes are what he knows, and what he's going with.

he was posting images of the 1978 "Superman" movie (the only good movie Superman we have) and Grant Morrison's "All-Star Superman", which I take as good signs.

Kevin Smith pretended to be a fan of He-Man, and blatantly lied about his show being about him, when instead it was about misandry.
Gunn fired Cavill, despite knowing how popular he is, because he took the audience's side.
I personally wouldn't watch a new superhero movie even if it was as good as the Dark Knight, but the only things you can expect from Gunn are more woke tripe and CGI.
Sure, the writing will be better than a Disney remake's, but that's about it.

I don't care what other people like or don't like so I'm not going to get wrapped up in a pointless argument about this stuff, but looking over James Gunn's movies, I like everything I've seen.

"Slither" is a great horror-comedy. I saw that in a theater when it came out 17 years ago. I knew nothing about it. A friend and I spontaneously decided to go to a movie late at night and agreed that we would see whatever horror movie was out, no matter what it was. "Slither" was the one and it was an unexpected blast.

"Super" is a nicely tasteless comedy about a mentally disturbed guy who thinks he's a superhero. Gunn's Troma roots show in that one.

As for "Guardians of the Galaxy", yeah, I like those, though I haven't seen the third one. They're silly and were refreshing at the time, By 2014, Marvel movies began to crawl up their own ass for me. A lot of people praised "Captain America: Winter Soldier" ("it's a superhero movie, but it's also a political thriller, wow!"), but I thought it was a bland letdown. A little later "Guardians of the Galaxy" came out and it was ridiculous and goofy and fun. I like the crazy, cosmic side of the Marvel comics universe and it was cool to see that acknowledged. There's a vision in those movies. They are different from standard capeshit. I can see why DC wanted Gunn.
