I haven't seen any Marvel stuff in five years, but from the reviews, this guy and his developing role as Kang was the ONE thing that everyone seemed to agree was promising about the future of these movies.
People think it's promising that different unrelated versions of the same character keep getting their assess kicked in unrelated events?

Multiverses are for hacks afraid of writing events with consequences.

Plus it's not actually very good in terms of raising the stakes. Seems a good chunk of Phase 4 and what little we've seen of 5 have been about stopping the destruction of the multiverse.

Only because he is black. That's why people say his performance is good.
THIS. There's nothing special about this guy. Just the flavor of the month that Hollywood is trying to shove down our throats.

A big part of what makes capeshit horrible is the lack of consequence. Nobody ever stays dead in fucking capeshit.

Or they get replaced so much that it doesn't matter. How many times have they killed The Flash? Five times?

This is the ideal capeshit. You may not like it, but this is what peak capeshit looks like.
Beloved comedian Whoopi Goldberg is venturing into the realm of comic books with a new graphic novel for Dark Horse Comics. Screen Rant has the first look at The Change, a superhero story centering around a woman that breaks the mold of comic book heroes.

Screen Rant is excited to announce Dark Horse's upcoming graphic novel, The Change. The book is co-written by Whoopi Goldberg (The Color Purple, Sister Act) and writer/showrunner Jaime Paglia (Eureka, The Flash). Illustrating is Sunkanmi Akinboye (Windmaker, E.X.O.: The Legend of Wale Williams) with Alexandria Batchelor on colors and Frank Cvetkovic providing lettering. Artist Khary Randolph provides The Change's cover art. The story centers around Isabel Frost, a wife, mother, and grandmother who feels that life isn't what she thought it'd be. Even though she's got an amazing support network of family and fellow gamers, things have become stagnant for Isabel. But as her body adjusts to menopause, Isabel finds herself developing powerful abilities. With the assistance of her best friend and her comic book-loving grandson, Isabel decides to embrace the new direction of her life and become the Change.

Whoopi Goldberg Brings a New Kind of Superhero with The Change

When it comes to trailblazers in entertainment, Whoopi Goldberg has cemented herself as one of the biggest icons of her generation. Comedian, actor, writer, and television personality, Goldberg has worn many hats in her long and illustrious career. From her hysterical roles in movies such as Sister Act or The Lion King to her time as one of the core members of The View, Goldberg has been a household name for generations. Goldberg is also one of the few entertainers to win the EGOT by winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award.

And while Goldberg has written several children's stories as well as a few non-fiction books, she's never tried her hand at comic books before. But The Change seems to be an interesting start for Goldberg. Though many superhero stories focus on younger, physically fit characters in their prime, The Change features a woman going through menopause. Certainly a daring choice, but one that likely speaks to Goldberg. It might be rare for such a tale to center around a dramatic shift like menopause, but The Change could open up a new world in superhero storytelling.

The last few years have seen an increase in characters in superhero fiction who represent people that were minimized at best or ignored at worst. And even though there may have been superheroes who experienced menopause, rarely has it been a huge factor in storytelling. Goldberg, Paglia, and Akinboye's story is a great opportunity to show that anyone can be a hero at any point in their lives while also examining what it means to get a second wind in their later years. Readers can see the new Dark Horse hero for themselves when The Change releases November 28th.

>thinking your (likely) self-insert will change the game so much that she is literally called "The Change"
>menopause has rarely been a huge factor in storytelling
That has probably nothing to do with most capeshiter buyers still being white cis het male basement dwellers.
Or that your character is probably boring af if her main gimmick involves not being able to get pregnant anymore.
