I looked it up and apparently Wounded Knee was the last battle fought on US soil. In 1890. If you can call army vs injuns a war. More like stomping le noble savage down with our vast colonial boot.

Point is, America hasn't had to fight a war on its own soil in living memory of any human being alive today. Let alone a war on our soil in the nuclear age. I'll happily concede to being bitchmade on that issue. I'd prefer we keep our noses out of the whole warmongering business and our army largely within our own borders.

Well, you said US soil, and any territory of the US does count. If you mean continental US, then I don't think there's anything.

In regards to Pearl Harbor, I wasn't counting it because I'm not even sure I can really call it a battle fought on US soil, as it was just a fast raid with no attempt to establish any kind of a presence. If Pearl Harbor counts as a battle then one might as well count 9/11 as a battle.
