Cancer is a popular cause of death for old people besides your body just giving up in one way or another. Guess decades of heavily-processed food starts to add up.
Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

Most cancer is just age + genetics. When humans were eating healthy, they would die at 35. We definitely weren't made to last past 40 or 50.

Rest in Piss, You fucking disgrace. The GIF format was always a cancer, and a proprietary cancer at that.

Was there nothing better than JIF when it was made?
I have a very stunted career as an internet shitposter. I dont think I've made a gif even once.

From what I could tell, the only image format before GIF was bitmap, but raw bitmap files are obnoxiously huge. Of course, GIF has long been superseded by far better image formats, but I still find it insane that an outdated, 35-year-old file format still gets any use considering stuff like Flash is now in the dustbin.

GIF is pretty much the lowest common denominator. Every browser and OS supports it right out of the gate, and any image manipulation program worth using likely has tools to create and optimize them.
Flash as mostly been abolished because the HTML5 standard renders its superfluous, and Adobe got tired of having to fix security issues and other shit all the time.

Not in the 90s and early 2000s, when GIF was still proprietary. Freeware image editors would open GIF for visualization but not save in the format. I remember it because I was doing rudimentary web designing back in the day (learning, actually) and it was a pain in the ads to generate transparent gif images using free tools.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 8:12 pmand any image manipulation program worth using likely has tools to create and optimize them.
Animated gifs are another pet peeve of mine, because they play automatically and can't be stopped by default. There used to be a Firefox extension to stop gifs from autoplaying and to add a pause/play control to them, but of course Mozilla fucked things up and now I can't find a similar extension for Brave. I absolutely hate animated gifs and would gladly purge them from the format if I could. That's another reason why PNG is superior to GIF, by the way: they gave up on making it animated by default.
