I remember the great old days of torrenting. P2P file sharing programs not so much...Le Redditeur wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 12:04 amGood, maybe we'll get back some good trackers and torrent search engines.

Re: Russia
After following activities of Putinists on social media over the last few weeks, I have noticed one trend: all Putinists seem to be obsessed with Corona vaccines and all the conspiracy theories around them. "You have been lied to about the corona for two years! Do you now really believe everything the fake news is telling you about Ukraine?", "First you were told to hate those against the vaccine. Now you are being told to hate the Russians!" etc.
Not all anti-vaxxers are Putinists, but all Putinists are anti-vaxxers.

Re: Russia
That's funny, considering Putin was one of the first to promote his (useless) Sputnik vaccine. I guess these people just conveniently forgot that little tidbit of recent history.

Re: Russia
He had a bit of a doublethink campaign going on, trying to push the Russian vaccine while throwing doubts about the Western vaccines through his propaganda channels, hoping to get Covid under control in Mother Russia while encouraging Western conspiracyfags to further radicalize.
Did you also check how many of them are into conspiracies? I bet there's quite the overlap. You're not a proper conspiracyfag if you're not also anti-vax, and Russian propaganda media is held in high regard when it comes to "alternative facts".veris leta facies wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 1:47 pmNot all anti-vaxxers are Putinists, but all Putinists are anti-vaxxers.

Re: Russia
Mental nutjobs are drawn to alternative media sites as these CRITICAL thinking individuals understand the world better and think with their OWN BRAINS, unlike we SHEEP who live in CORONA PSYCHOSIS and believe in everything the mainstream media says. Since mainstream media is biased in some of its narratives and outright lies about certain topics, it must mean the mainstream media lies about EVERYTHING, unlike these Russian funded websites, they provide the TRUTH for the enlightened ones.

The fact that the mainstream media lies about everything doesn't imply the Russian shills aren't also lying about everything. That should be pretty obvious.

The thing with conspiracyfags is that they're not as smart as they think they are.

Re: Russia
All media lies, state-owned even more so. That Russia's propaganda machine makes no exception shouldn't be necessary to mention.
Plus, Russia had the exact same masks and vaccine shit going on. They cancelled the chess world championship, which to Russia is basically the Champion's League.

That's like the one traditional sport they could easily turn into an e-sport, but I guess they would require too much VPN magic to get through the Russian censorship machinery.

Re: Russia
There has been a recent kerfluffe in an online match during the last Chess Olympiad, where the Armenian team forfeit in protest after their appeal to resume a match lost by disconnection was rejected. Besides, there's the question of how to prevent chess engines usage during computer matches. FIDE isn't really looking forward to make chess into an online endeavour (despite the pandemic actually caused a surge in interest in chess around the world, and it is one of the top games streamed on Twitch).VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 8:12 pmThat's like the one traditional sport they could easily turn into an e-sport, but I guess they would require too much VPN magic to get through the Russian censorship machinery.
