The new Batman is barely capeshit. Feels more like a Saw movie. Pattinson plays the character less psychotic than Keaton but still definitely a weirdo recluse.

Maybe making this thing nearly 3 hours long wasn't a good idea.
At this runtime they probably should've turned it into a mini-series, except they refuse to make a live-action series that actually features Batman (instead of some lame distant relative from the Bat Family).
Then again, we already have Adam West. No reason to make a new series if you know you can't beat perfection.

Exactly. There's no way they can win the hearts of people when the inevitable complaints about no POW! WHAM! ZONK! appears in the screen, and then modern Batman doesn't even have a Bat Shark Repellant.

I like the slow pace. I was pleasantly surprised a capeshit movie was actually trying to be a slow burn.

And there’s no post credit scene either, this guy just went out and made a movie - I didn’t even know that was still legal for this genre.

I have found the responses to it interesting - depending on your lean it’s either excusing muh incel alt righters or vilifying all the white men.
In reality I think what it’s trying to do is more interesting - The Riddler is a bona fide killer - but his motives come from the corruption of the city’s politics and it’s comprehensible to discern how he got to this point. There’s more going on than “ooh look at that nasty incel.”
Pre Jizzney dominance this would be like a basic goal for a screenplay to achieve - but the bar has been lowered by current year and we’re at this point where competence is revelatory.
Catwomans suit is - like they definitely don’t do enough with it, but the new Batman suit I like quite a bit. Dudes rolling around in like Samurai armor.
