Charlie Wilson's War was an okay movie but it's an incredibly simplified version of the story and gives uberchad Vickers like one scene. The book is a lot more detailed, and if I recall it correctly after all these years the Americans fucked up by doing everything in secret and funneling foreign weapons to the mujas, so when the Russians left not even the Afghanis knew America had been helping them and didn't give them any credit.
