I can't help but think of old satire as gay.

Prognostication. All you can do at this point is predict how much lower they'll sink.

I have so much shit in my backlog that I'm never going to get to Chaos Walking. Ridley's probably going to be the one that sinks of the four, though.

Rewatched Goldfinger the other night - first time in over ten years. What I picked up on that I dug was how much time the movie would devote to shit like Bond playing a golf game. Little moments that inform you about this guy and how clever he is.

The movie is funny, I figured that - but moments like Bond trying to break out of Goldfinger's base and the granny at the entrance getting a machine gun out stand out. So I was left thinking about why the humor here works and is so bad in movies like the Sequel Trilogy and the MCU. It comes down to Connery, I think - he's cheeky, but he's not mugging. His tone and delivery indicate he's taking the movie seriously, but he'll flash a smirk or an eyebrow raise or maybe a one liner to indicate that you're allowed to laugh.

DHI is proof you can be both a massive homosexual and a virgin. They're not exclusive. If you display both in large enough quantities you can qualify for mod status.

Goldfinger has its moments, but I'd argue it's even a little too fluffy. Connery never seems to be in any danger nor does he have anything against Goldfinger in particular. It's just a case of "well, he's the bad guy, guess I'd better defeat him". At least Blofeld wins his attention lol.

He killed Bond's first lady friend - he just didn't reveal the fact that he was upset because M chewed him out and told him to be objective.
I love the dynamic with him and Honor Blackman, he's like "turn on Goldfinger and I'll give you some dick" - their relationship is purely transactional.

Saw The Fury, the movie directed by Brian De Palma, for the first time. Its got some good fucking gore, all practical effects work, and a sense of humor on top of that. I'm shocked the movie hasn't caught on as a cult classic.
It is a cult classic.
Firstly, any film that's received critical praise but didn't do well commercially could be considered 'cult'. My uncle's got a big book of cult films and it's full of big, mainstream films that you've definitely heard of. Apocalypse Now, Blade Runner. I think Kane's even in there.
Secondly, in terms of influence, I know in the very least that The Fury is where Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid came from. Probably also The Fury from Snake Eater.
Excellent choice in film. Forgot about the MGS connection.
