if you'd go back to when S2 was talked about here you'd see I actually was the one critiqueing this show the most when it seemed to go in the wrong direction.

Well, it got picked up by Netflix, which is a sure sign that no matter how bad something is it will get worse.

I dont know how it happened but S3 actually stepped away from the SJW diversity stuff of S2 and replaces it with some sick violence and good emotional character development. The jokes are still there.
One of the problems I have still is that these kids seem to want to kill each other, actualyl ambush each other and and it only leads to some amateurish big group fight scene where some funny things happen but hardly anything serious. By now one of these kids should have died getting thrown through glass and shit, but I guess if you can recover easily from a broken back and coma then a little brawl doesnt damage anyone either.
i watch it for the humor and the campyness even but then dont depict these kids as psychopaths who'd actually kill someone if they got the chance without making the fights more serious and dangerous. It should stick to high school cliques fighting it out and jealousy over boys/girls while the "bad guys" just get steered into a more unhonorable position instead of making them psychos. They either need to match the action with their mindset or turn it down a lot, since I dont think we'll get a kid killing another kid on a show they need to make them more regular. All that rage anger and bitch im going to kill you just doesnt work when you've had the chance to do it several times already and it ended with a few scratches or a broken bone at most.

As for an example of bad writing there is Your Honor, it almost feels like it just wants to cash in on some lingering Breaking Bad nostalgia. Cranston is good but the rest is pretty bad and the writing has huge plotholes, which is a big problem when your series is about covering up a crime and all the people around them can figure it out if they used their brains even a bit.
Re: Non-cape tv show
It made me think about breaking bad though and realised Ive never rewatched it and by now its years ago.
Hopefully it holds up on a second watch. Wondering if I should watch better call Saul as well but it doesnt seem like its my kind of thing. And Ive seen Rushy praising it which is bad news.

Rushy is the Chad of DHI.

ironically, I actually think BB > BCS. I love Saul, but it's a lot slower, more introspective and you can kinda tell they didn't have as concrete of a plan for the character as they did for Walt. There's quite a few "wait... why is he doing this?" moments.
Still, the show's worth watching for Tony Dalton alone, one of the best things about this franchise.

BB holds up. If anything, it's a bit better because you already know Skylar's bullshit.
I still stand by it overstating it's welcome.
BCS isn't good. Some scenes are but the payoff isn't worth sitting through it.
