Re: What are you playing?
You'd think the concept of "Random battles are actually competitive events" would lend itself to something like animu Blood Bowl or something.
But no, just have regular battles with some asshole on a chocobo playing Q.

I hated not being able to kill the judges in the FFT Advance games. These invincible fuckers would lawcuck me every round with bullshit conditions.
Oh and CPU opponents have no problem with getting penalties by breaking rules. They either aren't penalized the same or else the lack of persistent penalties for CPUs leads to them constantly breaking the laws and laughing as they take their penalty cards.

Re: What are you playing?
And then FF12 turned these guys into Medieval Darth Vader. A very strange game.
EDIT: Now I've finished the Titan Quest expansion. A bit weird how Hades was apprently the easiest boss, at least to me.
I must admit, I get a bit spergy whenever someone does another round of "Hades is the eeeeeeeevil Greek god who wants nothing more than to take over the world (of course!)", though I guess a Diablo-style game has a better excuse to be a dumb theme park thrill ride than say a movie (unless said movie includes Disney Hades, because if you have to make your Hades a Devil OC - do not steal -, at least make him entertaining).
I've increasingly come across the "Enemies flee too much" complaint. Never really noticed it in the main game, but the expansion seemed to contain more elite archer dudes and melee cannon fodder than ran away for no good reason.
Oh well, my Warden was pretty fun to play. I didn't even respec a lot aside from removing that point of Scattershot arrows (which didn't really look like it was doing a lot, was an unecessary drain to my energy, and putting points in Volley is more fun anyways since it would occasionally turn my bow into a shotgun - not to mention that it also works with my spear).
Onto Grim Dawn next. I'll probably either do some dual-wield blade guy, or a bloke with a gun. I'll probably suck more with the latter 'cause I never really did kite-heavy characters. Like, at all.
(Though I got some experience in Titan Quest when fighting bosses that dished out a little bit too much hurt at close range)

I should finish up Witcher 2. I left off heading into the conclusion of chapter 2, aka right before endgame chapter.
There aren't too many fantasy rpgs made within the last 15 or so years that don't suck. I've been playing more Warband with mods of course.

Re: What are you playing?
My boy! Prophesy of Pendor was excellent.
@VoiceOfReasonPast I would suggest the new class they've added last in Grim Dawn, I've heard the guy is fun. As for greek gods, it's funny that Hades usually gets the "bad" label, as far as I remember from reading the Greek legends, most of the gods were full of bad character traits and basically omnipotent spoiled bastards who did things based on their mood swings, and if someone dared to "insult" them in the most innocent way, it was an invitation for a genocide. Any one of them could be a corrupt boss in a videogame.
I've finished Dishonored 2. That game is very long, if you're going for stealth and not killing people, with lots of optional things you can do in every mission, and quite satisfying, but at the same time it felt like less than the first game (while second game is longer, it had the feeling of an expansion pack, it was somehow less inspired), and the ending felt rushed and disappointing.
While sadly not awesome, it's a good and mechanically satisfying game, although still buggy. 15 euros felt like a fair price, Dishonored 1 left more lasting impression on me.

Blessed are the shitposters, for they will be called children of the Sperg.

Re: What are you playing?
Congratulating me for playing Warband is like congratulating a dog for pissing on a tree. I have literally hundreds of hours in Warband. Many hundreds. Probably the biggest number of hours in Vanilla, with a bunch more in Gekokujo, L'Aigle and that indian-asian one.
I remember, before my save file was lost for all time, I had almost all of Japan conquered in Gekokujo. I was the biggest dick in the world and the only clans left were the ones who never pissed me off and I hadn't gotten around to fucking over.
I learned long ago in Warband, btw, that Honour is worthless.
If you try to be honorable and do everything right, it takes for-fucking-ever and nobody will respect you. Be a scumbag. You earn money way faster which means you get strong equipment and troops sooner. Also, Vae Victus when it comes to assuming your dominance. Once you're strong enough (aka you have 100 swadian knights or whatever you think you'll need to start the ball rolling,) it's best to not fuck around. Pick a corner and start working out. Once you declare yourself a king, everyone turns on you.
Another option is to become a minor lord and help that faction take over the entire land. But the king will probably be a fucking dickhead and refuse to give you the lands and castles you personally won. That has happened to me more times than I can count. I'll send my men to die for a castle just so fatass Ragnar can sit in it. "Oh sorry, I can't award you this castle because you already own a single shitty town in my domain."
The only way to roll is to rapeculture your way into power.

Re: What are you playing?
And that's why Warband is the best companion to Crusader Kings.
And is that new class (by which I assume it's either Inquisitor or Necromancer) even out? I've only seen the base classes.
As for my first character, I'm failry set on Nightblade + Soldier. The next one is relatively open.
Oh, also the game's pretty rad so far, though I hope it gets a lot harder after the first main quest.
Hilariously enough, I think Hades is like the only major god of his pantheon who doesn't give a shit what mortals say about him. Even Athena has more skeletons in her closet. Some Sick Fuck wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2017 8:31 am@VoiceOfReasonPast I would suggest the new class they've added last in Grim Dawn, I've heard the guy is fun. Re: What are you playing?
Huh, seems like they haven't released Inquisitor yet, although I though they were going to, one of the dev logs suggested so. Never mind then, it's coming as a part of the expansion pack. I suggest switching to the highest difficulty when you'll get the option.
@rabidtictac I had a different tactics. Whenever it takes more time or not, I don't know, but in a long run, it paid off much more than being that one agressive bastard everybody hates. That works when you have 5, maybe even 15 villages, towns and castles, but when you're constantly under attack and on your own, it's not much fun and can take forever to dig yourself out of that hole.
I don't remember last time i've played vanilla, must've been years. Prophesy of Pendor makes everything much more challenging, but since it's also easier to make honorable lords like you in that mod, my tactic has been to get selected 10-15 nice guys that don't get mad at me and help me out when I need to, and build my kingdom with them. At the same time, I was usually running around with 10 or more asshole lords captured so they wouldn't come back in few days with full army. Still probably took me well over 100 hours to finish PoP campaign.
Also, the more guys your kingdom gets, the less they have, but I don't believe you can force anyone to join you unless they like you, and unless they come on their own, because they were exiled, you are screwed.

I'm so gonna pair the Inquisitor with Demolitions for some sweet Exterminatus action. Some Sick Fuck wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2017 4:18 pmHuh, seems like they haven't released Inquisitor yet, although I though they were going to, one of the dev logs suggested so. EDIT: Fuuuuck, the skill trees are deep. I think I'll just max out Nightblade for now (since it already comes with a lot of rad shit) and pick up the best from Soldier later.
