And covid-related shortages aren't a local phenomenon. Just more proof you should always stay stocked with enough for your own needs. I would recommend about a month's worth of food and water (for consumption purposes, not bathing.) Carry a month's worth of any other goods you really can't live without.

Even if there is no scarcity (and there definitely was!), there will be price hikes if supply lines are disrupted in any way. Maybe even hyperinflation under the right circumstances. It's not just about whether or not you can buy bread, but if the price becomes prohibitive or even merely unreasonable.
