It's probably overrated because it was one of the first Gundam shows they've actually pushed in the West. I'm pretty sure it's still the only one that ever aired on Kraut TV.

But yeah, the show's pretty much superfluous with Gundam 00 around.

This, 00 did Wing but better. Every annoying Gundam fan I meet is one who sucks on Wing’s cock. It’s like the people who bash Seed through osmosis, sure it’s got problems but the first series ain’t half bad. Half the fucks who bitch about it haven’t even watched it, just listened to other people’s opinions on it.

That being said, I do like some of the suit designs in Wing a lot. It’s been done before, but the Tragos was a hover tank that could go into a bipedal mode, and I love the utilitarian look of the Leo. That’s one point I’ll give to Wing over Seed, better mass production suits. I do also like the jewels that adorned the suits from Wing and G Fighter, it was different looking and more super robot (which those series borderline on) but aesthetically pleasing.

The one problem with the jewels is that it makes and Wing and Shining Gundam look a bit similar-ish. Then again their main protagonist units...

And Seed doesn't go completely to shit until Destiny where we run into human supremacist who hate super soldiers so much that they make their own super soldiers by brainwashing people into literal mental retardation and giving them suspiciously common trigger words that will cause them to get a panic attack.
