Re: Dead Celebrities aren't much fun
I'm not sure if it's still there, but "Once Upon a Time in the West" was on Netflix (US Netflix, at least) for awhile. It seemed to show up in my recommendations for years. Meanwhile, I'd already seen it and it's my favorite of the Leone westerns. No Clint Eastwood, but you've got Charles Bronson and an evil, cast-against-type Henry Fonda.
As for Ennio Morricone, he had a weird career. He did about a million film scores. He's easily on the shortlist of the most famous film score composers in the world. He worked on prestigioius movies and on some not-so-prestigious movies.
It's always been amusing to me, for example, that he composed the score for "Hundra", an early 80s low-budget "Conan the Barbarian" rip-off, except with a lady barbarian. Her all-female tribe gets slaughtered one day by a band of male thugs. Hundra survives and not only seeks revenge, but she's also looking for a worthy man to impregnate her so she can start the tribe over again. Many of the action scenes are in slow-motion, hiding that they couldn't afford decent fight choroegraphy. It's a dumb movie that I love and these losers got Ennio Morricone to score it.

I much prefer the Hawk the Slayer trick of having the heroes use rapid-fire archery skills thanks to weird stock footage abuse.Lindsay's Liver wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 7:17 pmMany of the action scenes are in slow-motion, hiding that they couldn't afford decent fight choroegraphy.
Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

Uh, Williams?da PAC Nigguh wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 4:16 pmHans Zimmer might be only decent film composer still alive.
Morricone - gone.
Goldsmith - gone.
Horner - gone.
Poledouris - gone.
It's a Civil War movie that never mentions slavery AND has sympathetic Confederates. It's seriously only a matter of time.da PAC Nigguh wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 4:49 pmI have The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly on DVD so I can still watch it after it's removed from streaming services because it's discovered the 2nd unit assistant camera operator once said "nigger" back in 1933.

So are a lot of Buster Keaton movies. A good chunk of films back in the day had sympathetic Confederates, to ensure the Southerners would line up to watch.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 11:24 pm

The Northerns at the time didnt care, since they knew they had won in the end. And they were pretty much the same on race and opinions of blacks
...and still: Spoony did nothing.

Speaking of which, watched Gone With The Wind today. There's literally nothing there worth getting upset about

I know. Merely pointing out that they're after it for not pushing their highly politicised view of history and nothing more. Same reason, I suspect, they've buried Song of the South, a film even Whoopi thinks people should see.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 1:27 amLike that would stop them.
