I think I'm going to buy a revolver with my stimulus check. I'm between a Ruger Redhawk and a S&W Model 27. It wouldn't be my primary defense gun so I can wank out a bit on the options.

I always recommend Ruger for modern revolvers when I can. The rugers I've shot have all been great and they're overbuilt as hell. They should easily last longer than you will. I would consider Ruger the Sig of the USA, except not quite as good. A gun like the Security Six is every bit the equal of any other revolver out there.

I've actually never handled a Ruger so I can't say anything about them. Pretty much everyone here has a S&W.
