Depends which Law & Order you watch I suppose. But I love Law & Order. Law & Order's also why I hate Adam Schiff. Because the Steven Hill character is named Adam Schiff and he's a tough, no nonsense DA. One of my favourite characters. But the real Adam Schiff is a whiny petulant faggot. Eminently corrupt, eminently partisan. Just a scummy sack of shit. Totally ruined the Hill character for me by association.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 1:43 pmI stayed away from Law and Order for a long time because they used to watch it all the time and I assumed it was garbage like the rest of the shit they watched.

Re: Non-cape tv show
I've said years ago that Criminal Intent is the best wannabe Columbo ever made. It's technically a Law & Order show.
Vanilla is pretty good, Miami is a meme, Las Vegas is shit and SVU is so embarrassing it's only worth a watch for the few extra double plus special episodes.

You've confused Law & Order and CSI

Oh, you're right. Shit, goes to show how loony the offspring L&O are that I'd even get there.

Re: Non-cape tv show
The only Law and Order show I like is the original one. I haven't watched criminal intent much though. SVU is a fucking joke.
All versions of CSI are awful except the first couple seasons of the original.

L&O: Trial By Jury was okay. Too bad it got cancelled after one season. (Criminal Intent stole it's catchy theme afterward.) There's a SVU spinoff coming, with Christopher Meloni returning as the captain.
Criminal Intent went to hell by season 4. The Mike Logan seasons are almost unwatchable.

First four seasons of Criminal Intent are better than the original, at least the state of the original by the time Criminal Intent was being made.
Blonde ADA was hot but I understand why it got canned. It was pretty much just the second half of the original show but stretched out to an hour and Jerry Orbach dying pretty much killed it because without him the detectives were pretty meh.Guest wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 1:01 pmL&O: Trial By Jury was okay. Yeah, and I don't like that they did that. I liked the original CI themeGuest wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 1:01 pm(Criminal Intent stole it's catchy theme afterward.)
It went to hell for a lot of the same reasons that the others went to hell too. Basically, it started out being filmed in this gritty, realistic kind of documentary style and as time went on they got lazier and lazier and it started becoming a lot more Hollywood. The writers also, as time goes on, tend to use 'ripped from the headlines' as an excuse to be lazy and just recount those headline cases but with Law & Order characters.Guest wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 1:01 pmCriminal Intent went to hell by season 4. Re: Non-cape tv show
When doing my house cleaning on Saturdays, I used to put the TV on and it would.be maratoning through either L&O Criminal Intent or The Closer. Both were surprisingly OK as background noise. I loved how CI would handwave some stuff happening to the actors IRL as to not change their characters in the show, like the main female cop gettting pregnant (she was restating the baby for her sister) and the captain getting an eyepatch for a while, probably because the actor had an eye operation ("it's a long story").
Re: Non-cape tv show
The worst thing CI did was turn Goren into a crazy son of a serial killer. Before that he was a mildly odd Sherlock type. After, he's flying into rages and going undercover on secret missions and shit. The Jeff Goldblum season was probably the best of the later years.
L&O Los Angeles was surprisingly hardcore. Very violent for network TV and was actually watchable despite its reputation.

Bleh, if I'm gonna watch "hardcore" cop tv then I'll watch The Shield. I'm mostly watching shit like Matlock, Perry Mason and Law and Order for the courtroom aspect of those shows.
