We Americans take a lot of abuse from other nations. We turn on the news and there's foreigners burning our flag. They tell us our country is backwards and that [insert some Scandinavian country] is so much smarter and superior to us.

Any time an American invents something marvelous, Euros will claim there was totally some guy in France that did it first. America's greatest achievement was 50 years ago and nothing of that scale since.

We sort of have a complex about it. Obviously, half the people in our own nation hate America. So it's very tempting at times to crow when our country finally does something right over other nations. Like, people need to point out why our 1st and 2nd amendment rights are important and need protecting from the liberals.
