It's almost like that idea is about as original as cloning Hitler

Re: Star Dreck
This is why you should be wary even of the old hippie subtype of shitlib. Of course the actors thought that was bizarre! Most people attach some importance to sex, even if it's just nominal. I'm sure a certain type of person would find the concept of completely free sex attractive (namely 13 year old boys), but societies don't work like that. Much like how TNG and even original Trek fucked up when they assumed getting rid of resource scarcity would dissolve all the wars and infighting. It doesn't work that way.Liar Revealed wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 6:19 pmRoddenberry had this outdated hippy "free love" vision of the future. Like he told Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis that Riker and Troi fuck each other whenever they feel like it, total no-strings attached sex. The actors thought that was bizarre and chose not to portray the characters like that.Keith Chegwin wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 5:55 pmIf we're talking about a starship like the Enterprise, yeah a lot of them are going to be fucking. It's a lonely job with very little time to go back to Earth or wherever and you're constantly in life-or-death situations which tend to make people want to fuck. Concerns like 'Oh we work together' are going to go out the window pretty quickly
Roddenberry fucked his co-workers/employees constantly and felt that was the norm and the Trek future should reflect that.

That's exactly what the holosuites are for in deep space 9, btw. They aren't super explicit about it, but there are more than a few clear hints in Quark's lines.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 6:12 pmAny cyberspace real enough for murdering a dude is real enough for fucking a waifu.

"Computer, end program!"
And all the spooge inside the holowhore falls to the ground and Rom has to clean it up.

Is that a thing with Burger shows? That they host what is basically Half in the Bag, except they aren't allowed to shit over the episode?
I think I vaguely recall an instance of Quark arguing with Sisko over getting more time slots for his special holo services.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 8:51 amThat's exactly what the holosuites are for in deep space 9, btw. You're obviously not familiar with 24th Century technology. The sperm gets beamed into the replicator matrix, where the proteins are used to enrich replicated food and drinks.Liar Revealed wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 3:08 pmYes. I find it gross because--
