My problem with all the Sherlock Holmes knockoffs/BRILLIANT! DETECTIVES is none of them are normal people who are also smart. They're all autistic, mentally Ill, or drug addicts. Even in Game of Shadows they had Downey Holmes call his powers of observation a curse, like he just woke up deductive one day and can't control it. Whereas the real Holmes chose to become the world's greatest detective and trained his mind accordingly.

The point, which illiterate guestfag seems to have missed, is that Sherlock Holmes was all of those things. He was a drug addict, but coke and heroin (morphine) were legal in the 19th Century so it wasn't a big deal. Numerous people have interpreted Holmes to be autistic, he's certainly eccentric, but again, they didn't 'have' autism in the 19th Century so that also wasn't considered a big deal
