Re: STD
Ebin zingers aside, I still like it a lot. The Voyager is just better proportioned and sleeker in every way. Not that aerodynamics matter all that much in space but it looks more like something that could warp speed around the galaxy.
The classic Enterprise is just that, an iconic design everyone knows that looks like nothing else and has a lot of charm. I think it's actually illegal to dislike it.

Re: STD
Going back to the original topic, one of the worst moments of Discovery for me was seeing them redesign Kirk's bridge. I mean, I realise it looked slightly different during Pike's era as captain(basically just less colourful), but it was drastically changed here.Kugelfisch wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2019 7:49 pmEbin zingers aside, I still like it a lot. Hashtag not my Enterprise.
Everybody commented how it had to be done, because the 60s set just wouldn't be taken seriously now and every single time, I was basically going "but what about that time in 2005 when everyone took it seriously?"

Yeah. Remember when the people making Star Trek were not embarrassed about TOS?
(Also wtf is up with the lighting on the redesigned bridge? It's way too dark, and what little light sources there are appear to be eye-cancer-inducing with their neon bullshit.)

Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

Maybe it's a reaction to the overlit Abrams bridge.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2019 8:33 pmAlso wtf is up with the lighting on the redesigned bridge? It's way too dark, and what little light sources there are appear to be eye-cancer-inducing with their neon bullshit.

Re: STD
While true, do you think they would've done any better if they were allowed to make what they want? Because I think they made it exactly how they wanted to make it.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2019 9:29 pmThey can't even use the actual Klingons but you think they're allowed to recreate Classic Enterprise for their shitty fan fiction?

Hoshi was kawaii desu.
I believe there must be a middle ground between "lensflare hell" and "a bridge for vampires".

Re: STD
Every Star Trek TV bridge has gotten progressively darker and darker.
Being surrounded by nothing but the black if space, you'd think they'd want some lights on
No wonder they used the holodeck more and more as time went on..

...and still: Spoony did nothing.

Space doesn't seem to work on television and in movies the way it does in real life. Only thing that's ever come close is 2001: A Space OdysseyTony Schiavone wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 8:34 pmBeing surrounded by nothing but the black if space, you'd think they'd want some lights on
