I do feel kind of bad for Roddenberry, because the guy just wanted to do his own thing and it wasn't even that bad of a thing. The Cage and The Motion Picture are probably the closest we'll get to pure Roddenberry trek and they're not *bad*, per se... just not very commercial at all.

I liked The Cage. The Motion Picture was boring. Pretty much everything I've seen and heard about Roddenberry suggests the movie people were smart to keep him as far away from the decision making process as possible

The Berman/Braga era was definitely Trek at its commercial peak, so that's obviously true. Honestly, they should probably just give Trek back to those two.

God no. Berman's just another Roddenberry. The reason TNG and DS9 ended up being good was because Berman knew to hire the right people. Same reason TOS ended up being good, Roddenberry had gotten all of these great sci-fi writers to contribute episodes. When they didn't get the right people you ended up with shit like Voyager and Enterprise and the TNG movies because Berman does not know how to run a show

Voyager and Enterprise were arguably still watchable, or at the very least, they were still Star Trek, unlike Discovery.

Even the abortion that is Voyager had enough decent actors to hopefully let you suffer through it. There is no such solace in STD.

Not to mention that the Voyager was a pretty ship. One of my favourite designs out of all of ST.

Certainly more elegant than the Enterprise D. Though when it comes to smaller-ish Starfleet vessels, I'm more into compact designs with little to no secondary hull, like the Miranda-, Nebula- and Akira-classes.

I think everyone loves the Defiant. The similarly-named but completely different Reliant is also pretty badass.
