I agree. The character appears as a withered old man full of nostalgia and uncertainty until he gets to command(?) some queer cargo ship with a ragtag group of young'uns on a mission to protect the Messiah girl so she can fulfill her destiny. Some "old friends" will be there to help along the way, and a bazillion more worthless, toothless Borg will get exploded.
Despite "Picard" being in the title it looks like he's become Egon from the Extreme Ghostbusters animated series, only 70% closer to death.
Maybe the trailer was just shitty and the series will actually be okay, but I'm surprised reaction so far has been so positive.

Picard show needs more Worf. I'm not surprised they decided to go with the pale eunich manchild as the only link to the old show in the trailer.

This is still set in the JJ Abrams / STD universe, so they would have to make Worf look like an Orc if they used him. Before Kurtzman was "promoted" out of the way, the early cut of the Picard pilot that tested poorly actually included some of the STD Orc Klingons.

They have to keep Worf out, for he would unveil this whole charade as fanfiction.

(Though I hope that if they do include him, they'll have decided to turn Klingons into lizardmen, just to fuck with everyone even more.)

Yeah that's a good point about Worf. He's an established character so having him show up looking like a completely different JJTrek Klingon would be awful. Yet these Bad Robot/Secret Hideout faggots have some kind of contractual guarantee to use their own "brand" of style everywhere so that means no Worf.

2019 Data is the stuff of nightmares.

Brent Spiner's said before that bringing him back at an advanced age to play Data was foolish, and I agree. Even so, I'm pretty sure the Next Generation established at one point that his android body was designed to age, but everyone seems to have forgotten about that incredibly convenient rule.
