Yeah the War Of The Roses period is very interesting and the idea of an alternate history is intriguing but it’s plagued by Blackadder not being the witty character we all know and love.

Because that Blackadder was in a position of power and just a dickhead. It's like they didn't really figure out what they were going for yet.

Actually, ironically they did. They did the original pilot where the Blackadder character was more like the one seen from Blackadder II onwards. But, for some reason, they decided to go with the 'Blackadder as an idiot' interpretation they did during the first series. So they scrapped the original pilot (after having spent so much of the taxpayer's money) and did another pilot. Then, after the first series ended, they realised they got it right the first time and restored the original characterisation for all the sequel series.

They've been leading to worse movies since forever. The main reason that Orson Welles' The Magnificent Ambersons got butchered was that it didn't test well.

The show almost goes to lengths to deprive us of any evidence of our replacement's superiority over us. The genocide of the human race is justified because the hosts...had a really shitty time of it you guys. Their suffering and oppression is their moral and spiritual superiority. They're better than us and deserve to wipe us out because some of us hurt them.

Storage Wars (especially Texas) is my new guilty pleasure. Cue the decline if Western civilization talk, yeah, yeah, yeah.

It's rare that a reality show about low-class people and oddballs is both completely thorough in its characters and actually entertaining.
