Politics these days is often based on revenge. If you read the replies to the news posts on Facebook, it's common for black people to invoke Kyle Rittenhouse or George Zimmerman, either explicitly or implicitly ("Karmelo stood his ground"). Rittenhouse didn't kill any black people, but he's still seen as a white boy who privilege'd his way out of a prison sentence. In between the lines of the black response is that they want their own Rittenhouse and Zimmerman.

It'll be interesting to see if Karmelo Anthony has a "crying on the witness stand" moment like Kyle Rittenhouse and if he can bring himself to say that he really thought that the white future frat bro that he stabbed had the power to beat him to death with his bare hands.

One thing that contributed to George Zimmerman's exoneration is that he was pretty bloodied and beaten up at the scene.

I haven't seen anything that says that Austin Metcalf did anything more to Karmelo Anthony than shove him. If Karmelo's medical report shows that he didn't have a scratch on him, that could be a problem for him.
