Rookie mistake from the director imo.
If you are a director nowadays, you don't hire an intimacy coordinator, aka a witness, for the "safety" of professional actors pretending to fuck, you do it for your own safety.
The actress told him she felt safe on set? Cool.
If she's an Amber Heard or an Allison Pregler, in a couple of years she will make up stories of rape, abuse and coercion if her career will become stagnant.

Hopefully that's not the case. I liked Anora, and she's quite good in it. Big step up from Heard, who I always found to be really stiff, and the Lupa, who, despite being alive for multiple millennia, never learned charisma.
