As someone whose social circle includes many outspoken leftists (a product of being involved in local and independent music for most of my life), I constantly notice how they're never happy. They felt good for about five minutes when the 2020 election was called for Biden, but they quickly went back to being miserable and feeling oppressed again.

I see Republicans complain about our weak leadership and lack of unity and how the other side is so much better at getting things done.

And I see many Democrats say the exact same things about their own party. The young ones are attracted to fighting for social causes and they will always find new social causes for which to fight (nobody gave a fuck about trans people twenty years ago) while the older ones are more pragmatic about things like the Supreme Court and it's a major thorn in their side that they don't have a Dem-appointed majority there.
