Cannibal Corpse just put out a new album. I haven't had enough time with it yet, but so far it's perhaps my favourite one yet. It's certainly way up there!



They are far from the least approachable Brutal Death Metal bands but this one has some real charmers.
Check out the Melodic Death Metal licks at 2:15 and 2:45 if you can't be arsed to check out the whole thing.
But you should! Now is the time to get into them with crowd pleasers like this that have lots of typical CC shit as well. There's no excuse, besides being turbo gay.

Absolutely. At least comparatively. I'm currently very into War Metal, which I was planning to post on but looking for some example that isn't too abrasive to post here. Not an easy task. So I'll just initially hit you with the hard shit instead.
Ever wonder what Hell sounds like?



Fun fact: Teitanblood is from Spain and respected so much that Dark Throne had their logo on the cover of Circle the Wagons.

But in reality, their albums are an experience made to listen in full or at least blocks of several "songs" that flow unto another.
The Baneful Choir is a good example.



Normally, two ambient tracks come before that, leading into it and the first of those is a continuation of the extreme onslaught of the previous track. It gives you a much needed 5 minute or so break of an absolute assault.

But a better representation of what the fuck War Metal even is would be that it's not a generally accepted genre at all. It's a mix of Black Metal and Death Metal.
Depending on what is dominant, it's called Bestial Black Metal or War Metal.

A really in the middle example.

More Black Metal, clearly Bestial Black Metal.

More towards Death Metal, so it's War Metal.

Very "traditional" War Metal.

Makes this sound wonderfully melodic, doesn't it?
