The First Purge was exactly as lefty as you thought it would be. Literally a 100 minute racist screed against whites, Republicans, and anyone who isn't a Marxist of Color. Every character in the movie who isn't a white villain is black. The first purge happens in a ghetto city where white racists wearing NAZI garb literally roll through the Projects (portrayed as a nice crime-free place full of literate blacks who just want to make a better life for themselves) and gun down innocent black folk. It ends with a proud kang singlehandedly killing off all the whites and taking charge of a black army against injustice.

I'm honestly surprised this gay-ass shit came out in 2018. It felt very 2020.

This is actually a prequel to a franchise that has been going on since 2013. Anyone know how woke this was from the beginning?

Never saw that shitty prequel, the other 3 movies were dumb and woke, but probably not as dumb and woke as that one.
They were always extremely stupid commentaries about muh gun control and muh class privilege, but they were made before "class" was replaced with "white".

The first movie is just a shitty home invasion flick, with a white family terrorized by a group of white college dipshits.
Their leader larps as a mix of the Joker and the villains of Funny Games, comes across as a ridiculous cocksucker.
There's a black guy who takes shelter in the house, and he's there just to be the victim of an off-screen KKK attack.

The second movie is the only decent one of the bunch, because the protagonist looks and acts like The Punisher.
He's out during The PushingUpVomiting to take revenge on the guy who killed his son, and reluctantly helps people along the way.
There's a lot of black on black crime in the movie, but again a lot of "rich whypipo are sadistic murderers" and "the military is behind all".

The third one is the worst of them all and i never finished it, even if the protagonist of the second one returns as the bodyguard of Madam President (or about to be elected Madam President, i don't remember) who is the target of le evil Republican snipers.
It was just too dumb, and i'm talking about the execution and tone too.
One of the minor villains is a teen negress who acts like the villain of the first movie, threatens one of the good guys (a black store owner) with a fake rape accusation if he didn't do her bidding (even though she should have known the cameras in the store were filming her the whole time), and dies after being run over by another one of the good guys, some latinx cunt.
Never watched past that.

It's like your franchise is bound to be stupid if it is based on a stupid premise.

The Rock as a Bond movie.
Nothing about this makes sense. Alcatraz closed in March 1963, yet Mason is supposed to have been sent there in 1962 after stealing the microfilm showing Kennedy's assassination in November 1963.

If he's supposed to be James Bond, that means he only finished the Dr. No mission before going to jail, when in reality he was still active in 1971.

Threads (1984)
https://vimeo.com/305272247

Yet another movie I've been meaning to see for quite some time, but never been in the mood before as I thought this would be just two hours of misery porn and tedious & obvious "nuclear weapons baaad mmkay", but it went actually much deeper than that. It was quite thought provoking and clearly a lot of research had been done on behalf of the movie. Definitely one of the most interesting and disturbing films about the collapse of society. Not a single movie I have seen before has succeeded in creating such an inconsolable post-nuclear era. People born after the nuclear war act like feral beasts due to radiation retardation and lack of schooling system and functional society around them, speaking this simplified pidgin-English in one-word sentences and are themselves unable to reproduce with each other, or at least to have viable children. Brutal stuff indeed.

The Seventh Continent (1989)

Oh nice, another such uplifting and happy movie, this time from the jolly good fellow Michael Haneke himself. An Austrian family goes through depression or alienation or some other very, wery dark timez and in the end.. nothing good happens. The first hour is incredibly dull, but THAT'S THE POINT you see, as the director intended blahblahblah, I don't even bother to talk about this any further. It's not a pleasant viewing experience, tell you that. Now I need something more cheerful to watch before I slit my wrists.

I recommend Non Non Biyori. It can cure depression (as long as you're not Spoony).
