Musicals dying was a good thing. They died for the same reason westerns did. There were too many shitty ones being pumped out year after year and fatigue set in. The genre became absurdly derivative and stale. A few movies have tried to "reinvent" musicals in the same way Unforgiven did with westerns, but they largely failed.

Nah his motives are even dumber, John Kramer (Jigsaw) is a guy who lost an unborn child to a junkie, tried to commit suicide via car crash after finding out he had cancer, and then after a revenge kill he decided he’d be a massive hypocrite and teach people the value of life and how to appreciate by horribly maiming them. Then after he dies in the third events either take place out of order or it’s yet another apprentice. Jigsaw literally took place before the end of the series despite most of it being set after. Fucking dumb shit.

Yeah, but it's still about cops all the time. Saw II-IV all had Donnie Wahlberg or his black partner, and then the series was about an actual policeman trying to kill other policemen who kept finding out about his shit. In Jigsaw, the apprentice frames a cop for his crimes as well iirc, or at least his game is based around one. It just always comes back to policemen, because you need somebody investigating the murders.

Man, I wish they did another Saw film that's just about people being trapped in some weird room or house or labyrinth or whatever whilst Tobin Bell monologues somewhere. Don't even tie it into the other films.
