Re: Jim Spergling
If they're still alive, the problem is obviously that they don't hate themselves enough.
I pity the poor girl who becomes crazy Spergling's Clarice.

It's a trap!
Re: Jim Spergling
The difference in Silence of the Lambs though, is Lecter (let’s not forget, an emotionally manipulative psychopath) was feeding into Buffalo Bill’s mania, egging him on, propping him up and encouraging him. Nobody else that I can recall in the movie is on his side. Just one fucking guy.
Now imagine a world where there are thousands upon thousands of Buffalo billth and they all freely advertise. Someone should make a movie. You wouldn’t even have to try hard, just an iPhone, 90 minutes on Twitter and a time machine to take you back 30 years. People would be throwing up in the aisles .

Re: Jim Spergling
I don't remember the movie very well, but Lecter and Buffalo Bill never interacted, or was he sending him letters or something?

Re: Jim Spergling
I think Buffalo Bill was basically a fanboy of his.

Ah, fuck it, got mixed up with Red Dragon. That guy was one step away from being a tranny Norman Bates anyway, so my point still stands.

Re: Jim Spergling
Yeah he was treating Bill’s lover, I double checked and the image they chose for the wikipedia article is hilarious.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo ... character)
Of course there is some “Reee trannies can do no harm” shit in the analysis section, but this one caught my eye. The author is a queer feminist specialist, but the way this is written makes it sound like he’s pointing out the whole problem with modern troons, to escape the being cis het white male scum. I may be reading this wrong, but it sounds like it goes against the narrative.
Jack Halberstam A turbo faggot, author of Skin Shows: Gothic Horror and the Technology of Monsters, writes, "The cause for Buffalo Bill's extreme violence against women lies not in his gender confusion or his sexual orientation but in his humanist presumption that his sex and his gender and his orientation must all match-up to a mythic norm of white heterosexual masculinity." Halberstam says Buffalo Bill symbolizes a lack of ease with one's skin. He writes that the character is also a combination of Victor Frankenstein and his monster in how he is the creator gathering body parts and experimenting with his own body. Halberstam writes, "He does not understand gender as inherent, innate; he reads it only as a surface effect, a representation, an external attribute engineered into identity." Buffalo Bill challenges "the interiority of gender" by taking skin and remaking it into a costume.[7]

What this "author" fails to understand is that Buffalo Bill is based upon Ed Gein, a basement dwelling momma's boy who turned into a hoarder and avid reader of nazi exploitation pulp magazines and comic books after his mom died. So wearing a skin suit while cosplaying as his dead mom or making furniture out of human remains was essentially just a slightly more organic fandom activity and not some fucking sociocultural statement. Also, Ed Gein was a nice guy who knew how to mind his own business, unlike those twitter schmucks.
