They always act like their shit is so fucking valuable that another company will scramble to fill the niche if youtube demonetizes them. YT isn't even "forcing them off the website"- they're just starting to correct for overpaying on valueless trash videos.

This shit is why I never monetized my channel. I never wanted to be beholden to youtube or connected with them beyond a casual shitposter. Also the moral thing, but lel.

These videos they make are WORTH NOTHING. Or almost nothing. DSP was getting paid more than his channel brought in on ad revenue for YEARS. Companies have been overpaying for "quality content" for YEARS.

A few different ways.

In the early days, Machinima contracts paid out flat rates based on views. Obviously that's fucking ridiculous. They were way overpaying basically everyone on those early machinima contracts. Machinima negotiated down and down, but they were still consistently overpaying all their "talent" until they finally put people on ads-based contracts.

The ads-based contracts are presumably determined by what advertisers believe the ads are worth, aka what the market will bear.

Now, it's my contention that the market was in a massive bubble up until very recently, with advertisers drastically overpaying for these ads on spergelord videos that have essentially no value.

Think about what the value is of advertising on DSP's channel. Who watches DSP? Who has money and watches DSP and wants to give your company money? Nobody. DSP's entire channel has no fucking value at all to any business. But he's still being paid more than zero. IMO that shows we're still in an ads bubble.

Not just because I don't like DSP or these other e-celebs. What purchasing power do their audiences have? The only thing these e-celebs can sell is themselves via Paymetons or Dickstarter scams. What intrinsic value do these videos have? None. Only the value of the eyeballs on the screen. Now you factor in adblock and which e-celebs *actually have a big enough audience to matter for advertisers* and you can see that mass demonetizations of unprofitable channels is the future. Advertisers and Youtube have been paying out money for videos that have zero real value for years and years.

Ad revenue is going to correct downwards until it reaches a new equilibrium. That's my opinion anyway. The autoflagging system will probably get fixed, but ad revenue is only going down.

Pro Wrestling has an issue where it rates well on Cable compared to most shows but it gets less money because the audience doesn't have as much expendable income. The internet audience is even worse in that regard since a lot of YouTube users are younger and the views are spread worldwide which limits what advertisers they can use. And since before ads were put on anything it was very Wild West, like fucking BMW car ads for some TGWTG video on Blip.

Look at the average Spoony fan. A weebshit on welfare. Is that someone YOU would advertise to? Even Patreon has shown that sub count and views doesn't mean the more money, David Rubin barely cracks 100k views and yet makes 25k on patreon.

As Tictac said, the market is correcting itself and the nobodies are pissed the free dude is over. The bug will be fixed.
