I can’t get over how shit the dialogue in this “book” is. It’s so interchangeable, stiff and bland that it could literally be any character and you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. If it wasn’t for the constant “He said”, “She said”, “It said”, “They said” you’d have no fucking clue.

Just as a game I picked up any old Terry Pratchett book and flipped to a random page, and I know that the comparison is completely unjust, but it’s like night and day. No, style, no wit, no personality. It reminds me of the shit I used to write when I was just starting high school, you know, the kind of self insert garbage where every character is basically yourself because you have no real world experience and that’s all your pea brain can think to write about.

She writes like every college freshman writes before they've taken their first writing course and had their work edited by peers. I saw plenty of shitty writing like hers at university. But it gets edited.

Like I said before, college essay writing has its own pitfalls, but it's still a massive step up from the garbage in her book. Her book reads like stream-of-consciousness rambling from a 16 year-old. I can barely tolerate the little quotes that pibbs posts. I'm not expecting quality, but readability and brevity left the chat long ago. I can tell just from reading this garbage that Lindsay has a huge ego. Even if I knew nothing about her, I would know that. Why? Because she was fine leaving this in such a state. She probably looks at this story and thinks her writing is good. I would be mortified if someone found a draft of mine this rough. Even a cursory 2nd read-through by the author would identify numerous problems to be corrected. I think the only editing she did was clicking on "spell check" and tapping through the results.

Good god the amount of industry people dick riding her book is shameful. Critical acclaim truly means nothing these days, but I'll give her one thing she is damn good at making connections.

Despite trying to rip off RLM's style she failed their basic fucking character test which was in their most popular video. Because what the hell are the fucking characters personalities? The alien doesn't even have to be robotic, it's literally on the run from hardcore eugenicists. Cora is just Bella from Twilight, who the fuck is her aunty other than a scientist who talked to aliens? Who the fuck is her family other than mommy being a drunk? The rest of them are just "brother of Cora". Who is her father other than some guy who knows a conspiracy? It's pretty damn easy to write a character like that since they will likely have a lot of integrity and will be the kind of person who demands people know the truth regardless of whether people want to hear it or not. So far he is just some distant guy on the news.

Fuck me I am getting Lightbringer flashbacks, not the early shit I reviewed that was unintentionally hilarious but the later shit that was just boring and fucking bland. No one had a personality in that and Lindsay suffers the same problems in her fiction despite her NOT being autistic like Linkara. And she has displayed in her video essays that she at least understands shit like character growth but was too lazy and arrogant put that in her story, which makes her worse than Linkara because at least he truly doesn't understand shit like that due to his aspergers. At least he was trying, Lindsay's ego is so much bigger because she knows she doesn't need to try because of her connections.

Since everything is on fucking lockdown, I'd think ebook sales would be more accurate than bookstore figures. But that's just me.

The new York times best seller's list is more used as a marketing tool than a reflection of book buying trends. A publisher wants a book on the list? They tell bookstores what to buy and stock. This shit is decided before the books are fucking released.
