It's not a remake but an alternate universe in a way. People already knew that this was only going to cover up to them leaving Midgar since they announced it was going to be episodic. But everyone thought it was going to be improved graphics with changes to the gameplay to be like XV. And also some extra side quests with extra details about the characters.
What people didn't expect was a fucking time travel story shoved right into the plot. Basically Sephiroth from Advent Children goes back in time to change the past to let him win against Cloud and crew. And they are these spirits that are there to keep the timeline on its original path. You meet AC Sephiroth at the end of the game and by the looks of it cause the spirits to be destroyed. Aerith for some reason knows what's going on. It ends with the team going after Sephiroth through a portal that he created to stop him.
But what do you expect from having Nomura, of Kingdom Hearts game, as the director.

Figures. Only the shucklefucks at Squeenix would make a remake that of the first game of a sub-franchise that still expects you to be a turbo autist expert about everything they ever shat out about that sub-franchise.
I just hope Episode 2 will bring back the retards from Dirge of Cerberus. They were the "best".

I fucking knew it would be trash. Any "remake" they do in CURRENT YEAR is bound to be garbage since the talent behind the original is long gone. It's true for Squeenix, it's true for Blizzard, it's true for everybody else.

I am hearing that they changed the personalities of alot of the characters as well. It's like they didn't understand what worked. The best part is that of my understanding alot of the staff from the original worked on this. Especially the writer of the original wrote this one as well.
