Don't. Tell them. What to do.Poonoo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 6:26 amAnd as you can see it's actually about corrupt politicians wanting to get their buddies building contracts for overpriced appartments. Of course the real solution in your country is to fix their mental health and get them off drugs like that Seattle documentary that was posted here earlier.

Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

What I mean is there are some economic homeless who would be helped by cheap or free housing to get them back on their feet, and some assistance finding jobs as well as employers willing to hire for true "entry level" positions, rather than the farce that is "entry level" today. A homeless person can't get hired to a job without a lot of things they need help obtaining, like computer access, decent clothes and an understanding hiring process.
BUT! A majority of homeless have mental issues or substance abuse issues or both, and you really can't help those kinds of people unless the latter want to be helped and the former can be located and given the medication and therapy they need. I remember a retired police chief once told me that if you give a homeless person cash, about 85% of the time, it will be spent on addictive substances. Drugs or alcohol primarily. That's why we can't just give the homeless money or anything that can be traded for money... They will just put it into drugs or booze. You can't help an addict unless they want help. So whatever system we put in place for helping the homeless has to be one that will both help those who want work and housing, but also identify and address addicts and the mentally ill or disabled. Again, we can't give everyone free housing and cash because the cash will be used on drugs and the housing will become a rat-infested drug den full of feces and human trafficking.

If that was the only factor you'd actually have an easier time. Germany is extremely densely populated. Space is a larger issue, which you practically don't have. You have a total of more people but also a total of more working people paying taxes.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 6:06 amOur population is a lot bigger than yours and comprised of a lot more homeless that would need to be housed.
That also isn't a problem. Leaving the fairly recent problem of the rapefugees aside for a moment, you only have a right to free housing as a German citizen and only in the state you were born in or have been registered in for a while. Exceptions only apply if you have better job opportunities in a different state. You also have to go find a job and failing to apply or turning down job offers, while not landing you on the street, will cause heavy cuts to your welfare.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 6:06 amIf the Mexicans knew we were offering free housing to anyone who wanted it, probably half their population would show up overnight.
What your problem with the system would be is that for one you don't have a social security system like ours already set up that pays for that kinda shit. It's the same reason our "free healthcare" can't work for you.
Half of all the social security taxes are paid by the employer, the other half by the employee. Go ahead and propose to all Americans right now to pay a cool 40% of their pay check in taxes, then go and tell all employers that every single employee is going to cost them that amount more. I don't have to guess how that suggestion would be responded to.
It's completely impossible for the USA to just go and do that. Sure, it comes with benefits but your entire system isn't made up to be able to support the resulting cost for employers along with the resulting lesser income for workers. Both businesses and workers would go broke overnight.
The other problem is your much larger issues with substance abuse. There are bums here. You can't force people to take the offer of free housing. Most that decline are druggies, some are insane but not insane enough to be dangerous and a few just don't want to work and rather live on the street and collect no welfare at all than get their shit in order.
Stuff like that is also why none of the Sanders shit would work for you. You'd really have to state enforce a completely communistic dictatorship for that "free" stuff and the state would have to take over hundreds of companies that would go bankrupt otherwise. The nation would go bankrupt shortly after that. It's why socialist nations always do. It plain doesn't work.
For a more reasonable way of doing that you'd have to modify your entire social security system and your market over decades to get there.
But then your population isn't like ours. Germans are, in case you haven't noticed already, incredibly subservient to authority. As are most Europeans. We went from kings and lords ruling over us to replacing those with a state that does. There was never a wild west, billth of rights and the last time there wasn't some supreme rulership over fiefs was before the Roman Empire came along.
Good luck implementing our shit in a nation that was founded by people looking to get away from that and later fought a civil war for complete independence from the remainder of it. Especially with that population being heavily armed.
tl;dr: The USA aren't like Europe. That brings unique problems that European solutions just won't work for.

Homelessness is a really big issue in Bongland. Every time I go for a walk I see about 10 homeless people. It’s the same in every big city here and the councils don’t want to do a census because it would reveal how bad the problem is. That’s what happens cut all council funding and have no council housing. Shit’s fucked.

Any IN that actually manages to get Corona might be in danger, considering how shite they treat their own body.

This is milquetoast even by your usual low-effort standards.

Has a single one of them actually confirmed that they're infected or are they too shut in for us to get our hopes up?VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 9:41 amAny IN that actually manages to get Corona might be in danger, considering how shite they treat their own body.
