That should teach him for decrying his noble heritage as a Borg minority.

There should be a term for this, when old characters are brought back just to kill them. It's becoming an epidemic.

Re: Star Dreck
What is with Picard pulling in c-list characters from the old shows and immediately killing them off? Do the writers think these cheap stunts are well-written drama?

Re: Star Dreck
Star Trek doesn't have an EU to take characters from so they just take dudes that appeared in one or two episodes. Just to pretend as if they give a fuck about what came before. I fully expect them to bring back redshirts in some way as cannon fodder.

Re: Star Dreck
Wasn't Worf basically the designated red shirt of TNG? Always got thrown around like a little bitch to show how serious the episode's threat was.
In Picard's - and Star Wars' - case, it probably has to do with the new writers wanting to get rid of the old stuff in a "canon" way so they can fill the void with wokeness.
It's a bit like how Marvel and DC would hype their big dumb crossover events by having some c-listers brutally murdered for cheap shock value.

I'm sure tvtropes has an oh-so clever term for it, but I'm not going to bother with research.Liar Revealed wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2020 11:32 pmThere should be a term for this, when old characters are brought back just to kill them. It's becoming an epidemic.

Re: Star Dreck
With Star Wars, yes; it's clear that Kathleen Kennedy cares more about pushing an agenda than anything else. with Picard, I think the writers are stupid enough to believe that a random character's death = exciting drama. Thus far, they've only killed off c-listers, not any major characters, so I don't think their bloodlust is motivated by wokeness.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2020 8:44 amIt's a bit like how Marvel and DC would hype their big dumb crossover events by having some c-listers brutally murdered for cheap shock value.

Re: Star Dreck
There was a rumor that Dr. Crusher was going to be killed off (in a line of dialog rather than onscreen), and that Picard will die at the end of the season and the crew of his new ship (that nobody cares about) will rename their ship "Picard".Cuckara wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2020 3:18 pmWith Star Wars, yes; it's clear that Kathleen Kennedy cares more about pushing an agenda than anything else. with Picard, I think the writers are stupid enough to believe that a random character's death = exciting drama. Re: Star Dreck
Sounds like a load crap. The show's built on nostalgia, killing Picard would be a good way to send the viewership into the toilet.

This sounds stupid enough that I want them to actually do it.

Re: Star Dreck
It would be hilarious. All those 'the series is like seeing an old friend you missed' tards would be on suicide watch
